Description

A hearty and flavorful Surf & Turf Salad featuring juicy grilled sirloin steak and tender shrimp paired with crisp mixed greens, fresh vegetables, and a zesty lemon-garlic dressing. This salad combines protein-rich ingredients with vibrant textures and a bright, tangy dressing, perfect for a healthy main course or dinner option.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 300 g sirloin or strip steak
  • 300 g large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 5 cups mixed salad greens
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1/2 cucumber, sliced
  • 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Dressing

  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp honey
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Season steak and shrimp: In a bowl, coat the sirloin steak and peeled shrimp with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper, ensuring even coverage of the seasonings.
  2. Preheat grill: Heat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat until hot and ready for cooking.
  3. Grill steak: Place the steak on the grill and cook for 3 to 5 minutes on each side, adjusting the time based on the steak thickness and your preferred level of doneness.
  4. Grill shrimp: Cook the shrimp on the grill for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until they turn opaque and are cooked through.
  5. Rest and slice steak: Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes to retain juices, then slice it thinly against the grain.
  6. Assemble salad base: On a large serving platter, arrange the mixed salad greens, halved cherry tomatoes, sliced avocado, cucumber, and thinly sliced red onion evenly.
  7. Prepare dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together extra virgin olive oil, fresh lemon juice, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, honey, salt, and black pepper until the dressing is emulsified and smooth.
  8. Top salad: Layer the sliced steak and grilled shrimp on top of the assembled salad greens and vegetables.
  9. Dress and garnish: Drizzle the lemon-garlic dressing evenly over the salad and finish with a sprinkle of fresh chopped parsley.
  10. Serve: Serve the salad immediately for optimal freshness and flavor.

Notes

  • Choose ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon based on your meat preference and budget.
  • Avoid overcooking shrimp to maintain tenderness and prevent rubbery texture.
  • Optional: Add crumbled blue cheese or shaved Parmesan for extra richness and flavor.
  • Serve alongside crusty bread for a more filling meal experience.
