Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 cans (20 oz each) young green jackfruit in brine, drained and rinsed
- 8 oz (225 g) vegan cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup vegan mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup buffalo hot sauce
- 1 cup shredded vegan cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup unsweetened plant-based milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to warm up while preparing the dip.
- Prepare the Jackfruit: Drain and rinse the jackfruit thoroughly, removing any tough cores. Shred the jackfruit using your fingers or two forks until it’s pulled apart into a shredded texture.
- Cook Jackfruit on Skillet: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the shredded jackfruit for 5 to 7 minutes. This helps to remove excess moisture and slightly sautés the jackfruit to improve texture and flavor.
- Mix the Creamy Base: In a large bowl, combine vegan cream cheese, vegan mayonnaise, buffalo hot sauce, plant-based milk, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir until smooth and well blended.
- Add Jackfruit and Cheese: Fold in the cooked jackfruit, half of the shredded vegan cheddar cheese, and half of the sliced green onions to the cream mixture until evenly combined.
- Transfer and Top: Spoon the mixture into a small baking dish and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the remaining vegan cheddar cheese over the top for a delicious cheesy crust.
- Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the dip is hot and bubbly around the edges.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with the remaining sliced green onions, and serve warm alongside your favorite dippers like celery sticks, crackers, or toasted bread.
Notes
- Adjust the buffalo sauce quantity to suit your desired spice level.
- For extra heat, include cayenne pepper or sliced jalapeños in the mix.
- Serve the dip with celery sticks, carrot sticks, crackers, tortilla chips, or toasted bread for variety.
- The dip can be made ahead and refrigerated up to 24 hours before baking to save time.
