Ingredients
For the Filling
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 red bell pepper, finely diced
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce
- 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional)
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- ¼ cup chopped cilantro
For Serving
- 1 head butter lettuce or Bibb lettuce, leaves separated
- Chopped peanuts
- Lime wedges
Instructions
- Heat the oil: Warm the sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat to prepare for cooking the chicken.
- Cook the chicken: Add the ground chicken to the skillet and cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until the meat is fully browned and cooked through.
- Sauté aromatics and vegetables: Stir in the minced garlic, grated ginger, and finely diced red bell pepper; cook everything together for about 2 minutes until fragrant and slightly tender.
- Add sauces and seasonings: Pour in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sweet chili sauce, sriracha (if using), and rice vinegar. Stir well to combine all flavors.
- Simmer the filling: Let the mixture simmer for 2–3 minutes so the sauce thickens slightly and coats the chicken and vegetables.
- Finish with herbs: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped cilantro for fresh flavor.
- Assemble wraps: Spoon the warm filling into individual butter or Bibb lettuce leaves.
- Garnish and serve: Top the wraps with chopped peanuts for a crunchy texture and serve with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top.
Notes
- Add shredded carrots or water chestnuts for extra crunch and texture.
- Ground turkey can be used as a substitute for chicken for a slightly different flavor.
- These wraps are best served immediately while the filling is warm to enjoy optimal flavor and texture.
