Ingredients
Chicken
- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- ½ cup cornstarch
Sauce
- ½ cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
Cooking and Garnish
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- Green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Coat Chicken: Lightly coat the bite-sized chicken pieces evenly with cornstarch, ensuring each piece has a thin layer to promote a crispy texture.
- Heat Oil and Cook Chicken: Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the coated chicken pieces and cook until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. This should take about 6–8 minutes.
- Prepare Sauce: In a bowl, combine sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, honey, and minced garlic. Stir well to blend all the flavors together.
- Combine Chicken and Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce mixture into the skillet with the cooked chicken. Toss the chicken pieces to coat them evenly with the sauce.
- Simmer: Allow the chicken to simmer in the sauce for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky, coating the chicken perfectly.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the chicken. Serve immediately while hot, ideally with steamed rice or vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- For extra spice, add red pepper flakes along with the garlic in the sauce.
- Chicken thighs can be used instead of breast for a juicier and more tender texture.
- Serve immediately after cooking to maintain the chicken’s crispiness.
