Ingredients
For the Dough
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Filling
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
For the Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes foamy, indicating the yeast is active.
- Prepare the dough mixture: Add the egg, melted butter, and salt to the yeast mixture, stirring to combine.
- Knead the dough: Gradually add the flour while mixing, then knead the dough until it is soft and elastic.
- First rise: Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until it doubles in size.
- Roll out the dough: On a floured surface, roll the dough into a large rectangle.
- Spread the filling: Evenly spread the strawberry jam over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Form the rolls: Roll the dough tightly into a log shape and cut it into 12 equal slices.
- Second rise: Place the slices in a greased baking dish, spacing them slightly apart, and let them rise again for 20 minutes.
- Bake the rolls: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20–25 minutes until they are golden brown on top.
- Prepare the glaze and serve: Mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to create a glaze. Drizzle over the warm cinnamon rolls and serve.
