Ingredients
Rice and Broth
- 1 cup uncooked rice (preferably jasmine or basmati)
- 2 cups beef broth
Meat and Vegetables
- 200 g steak, cut into small pieces
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Seasoning and Cooking
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) to prepare for baking the rice dish.
- Brown the Steak: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat and cook the steak pieces until nicely browned on all sides. Remove the steak from the pan and set it aside to prevent overcooking.
- Sauté Vegetables: Using the same pan, add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and sliced mushrooms. Cook them until they become soft and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Cook the Rice Slightly: Add the uncooked rice to the pan with the vegetables and stir well, cooking for 1 to 2 minutes to coat the rice with flavors and lightly toast it.
- Combine and Transfer: Transfer the rice and vegetable mixture to a baking dish. Add the browned steak pieces on top.
- Add Broth and Season: Pour the beef broth evenly over the rice and steak. Sprinkle paprika, salt, and black pepper for seasoning.
- Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, until the rice is tender and has absorbed the liquid.
- Rest before Serving: Remove the dish from the oven and let it rest, covered, for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and any residual liquid to be absorbed before serving.
Notes
- Use jasmine or basmati rice for the best texture and flavor.
- For extra richness, sprinkle cheese on top before baking, such as mozzarella or cheddar.
- Allowing the dish to rest after baking helps the rice absorb any remaining liquid for a fluffier result.
