Description

These Smashburger Quesadillas offer a crispy, cheesy twist on traditional quesadillas by incorporating seasoned smashburger beef and classic burger toppings. Perfect for a quick lunch or fun dinner, they combine the best flavors of a cheeseburger in a handheld quesadilla form, served with a tangy homemade burger sauce.

Ingredients

Smashburger Quesadilla

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup diced pickles
  • ½ cup diced onions

Burger Sauce

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp pickle relish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Burger Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickle relish. Mix well until smooth, then cover and refrigerate the sauce to let the flavors meld while you prepare the quesadillas.
  2. Season the Beef: In a mixing bowl, add the ground beef along with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until the seasonings are evenly distributed without overworking the meat.
  3. Cook Smashburger Patties: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Divide the beef into portions and press each portion flat to create thin patties resembling traditional smashburgers. Cook each patty in the skillet until browned and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from heat.
  4. Assemble Quesadillas: Wipe the skillet clean and place one flour tortilla in the skillet over medium heat. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over half of the tortilla, then layer on chopped smashburger beef patties, diced onions, and pickles. Fold the tortilla over to cover the fillings.
  5. Cook Quesadillas: Cook the assembled quesadilla for 2-3 minutes on each side until the tortilla turns golden brown and crispy, and the cheese inside melts. Repeat this process with remaining tortillas and fillings.
  6. Serve: Slice each quesadilla into wedges and serve warm with the prepared burger sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra melty quesadillas, substitute or add American cheese along with cheddar.
  • These quesadillas pair well with fries or a fresh side salad to complete the meal.
