Description

These Mexican Street Tacos are a delicious and easy-to-make meal featuring tender, seasoned flank steak or sirloin served on warm corn tortillas. Garnished with fresh cilantro, diced onions, and a squeeze of lime, these tacos are packed with authentic, bold Mexican flavors perfect for a quick dinner or casual gathering.

Ingredients

Meat and Seasoning

  • lbs flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Tacos and Garnishes

  • 12 small corn tortillas
  • ½ cup white onion, finely diced
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 limes, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the beef seasoning: In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced flank steak or sirloin with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Cook the beef: Heat a skillet or grill pan over high heat until hot. Add the seasoned beef and cook for 4–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meat is browned and cooked through.
  3. Warm the tortillas: Using a dry skillet or directly over a gas flame, warm each corn tortilla for a few seconds on each side until pliable and slightly toasted.
  4. Assemble the tacos: Fill each warm tortilla with a portion of the cooked beef, then top with the finely diced white onion and freshly chopped cilantro.
  5. Serve: Serve the tacos immediately with lime wedges on the side for squeezing fresh lime juice over the tacos before eating.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the beef for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Add salsa, avocado, or cotija cheese for additional toppings.
  • Best served immediately while the tacos are warm and fresh.
