Description

This Burger Bowl is a delicious low-carb alternative to the classic cheeseburger, combining seasoned ground beef with fresh vegetables, shredded cheddar cheese, and tangy pickles. Topped with a creamy homemade burger sauce, it offers all the flavors of a traditional burger in a healthy, salad-style bowl that’s perfect for a quick and satisfying meal in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Beef Bowl

  • 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 4 cups chopped romaine lettuce
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup diced cucumber
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup sliced dill pickles

Burger Sauce

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp pickle relish
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Heat the skillet: Place a skillet over medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the beef.
  2. Cook the ground beef: Add the ground beef to the heated skillet along with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the beef is thoroughly browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease if necessary to keep the bowl light.
  3. Make the burger sauce: While the beef cooks, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, pickle relish, and smoked paprika in a small bowl. Whisk well until smooth and set aside.
  4. Prepare the bowls: Divide the chopped romaine lettuce evenly among four bowls as the base layer.
  5. Assemble the bowls: Evenly distribute the cooked ground beef over the lettuce in each bowl. Add cherry tomatoes, diced cucumber, sliced red onion, shredded cheddar cheese, and sliced dill pickles on top in layers for balanced flavor and texture.
  6. Finish with burger sauce: Drizzle the prepared burger sauce generously over each bowl just before serving to add creaminess and extra flavor.
  7. Serve immediately: Enjoy your low-carb burger bowls fresh, or store ingredients separately for meal prep and assemble later.

Notes

  • Add avocado slices or crispy bacon for an extra burst of flavor and texture.
  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for ground beef to vary the protein source.
  • For meal prep, store all components separately to maintain freshness and assemble right before eating.
