Description
This Juicy Grilled Ribeye recipe delivers a tender, flavorful steak with a perfect sear and a rich, buttery finish. Using minimal seasoning, the natural marbling of the ribeye shines through, making it a steakhouse-quality dish you can enjoy at home on your grill.
Ingredients
Steak
- 2 ribeye steaks (12–16 ounces each)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Finishing
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Steaks: Remove the steaks from the refrigerator 30 minutes before grilling to allow them to come to room temperature for even cooking.
- Preheat Grill: Heat your grill to high heat, approximately 450–500°F (230–260°C), ensuring the grates are clean and ready.
- Season Steaks: Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and brush both sides with olive oil. Generously season with kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.
- Grill Steaks: Place the steaks on the hot grill and cook for 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare doneness. Adjust timing based on your preferred level of doneness.
- Add Butter and Rosemary: During the last minute of grilling, top each steak with a tablespoon of unsalted butter and a sprig of fresh rosemary to infuse flavor and add richness.
- Rest Steaks: Remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for 5–10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute, ensuring a juicy and tender texture.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for accuracy: aim for 130–135°F (54–57°C) for medium-rare or 140–145°F (60–63°C) for medium doneness.
- Resting the steak is crucial to retain juiciness.
- Serve with grilled asparagus, baked potatoes, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
