Ingredients
Chicken
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ⅓ cup honey
- ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp water
Garnish
- Chopped parsley or green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Season Chicken: Season the chicken breasts evenly with salt and pepper on both sides to enhance flavor.
- Heat Oil: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering to prepare for searing the chicken.
- Cook Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side until golden brown and almost cooked through.
- Add Garlic: Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Prepare Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar to create the sweet and savory sauce.
- Add Sauce to Skillet: Pour the honey garlic sauce mixture into the skillet with the chicken and bring it to a simmer over medium heat.
- Thicken Sauce: Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl to make a slurry, then stir it into the simmering sauce to thicken it.
- Simmer Sauce: Let the sauce simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until it becomes thick and glossy, coating the chicken evenly.
- Finish Cooking Chicken: Spoon the sauce over the chicken continuously and cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) to ensure it’s fully cooked.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley or green onions before serving for added freshness and color.
