Description
Refreshing, vibrant, and naturally tangy, this Hibiscus Strawberry Lemonade combines floral hibiscus tea, sweet strawberries, and fresh lemon juice for the ultimate summer drink that’s perfect for hot days and gatherings.
Ingredients
Tea Base
- 4 cups water
- ½ cup dried hibiscus flowers
Fruit and Sweetener
- 1½ cups fresh strawberries, hulled
- ¾ cup fresh lemon juice
- ½ cup honey or simple syrup
Additional
- 2 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices and strawberries for garnish
Instructions
- Boil Water and Steep Hibiscus: Bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil, then remove from heat. Add ½ cup dried hibiscus flowers to the hot water and let steep for 10 minutes to extract the vibrant flavor and rich color.
- Strain and Cool Tea: Strain the hibiscus flowers from the tea using a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth. Allow the brewed tea to cool to room temperature to prevent wilting the fruit flavors.
- Prepare Strawberry Puree: While the tea cools, blend 1½ cups hulled fresh strawberries until smooth to create a fresh, natural fruit base.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large pitcher, mix the cooled hibiscus tea, strawberry puree, ¾ cup fresh lemon juice, and ½ cup honey or simple syrup. Stir thoroughly until the sweetener is fully dissolved and all ingredients are well blended.
- Add Cold Water and Chill: Stir in 2 cups of cold water to dilute slightly and enhance refreshment. Refrigerate the lemonade until completely chilled, preferably for at least 1 hour.
- Serve and Garnish: Serve the hibiscus strawberry lemonade over ice cubes. Garnish with fresh lemon slices and strawberries for an attractive presentation and an extra burst of freshness.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more honey or simple syrup if desired.
- For a smoother texture, strain the strawberry puree before mixing.
