Description

Heaven on Earth Cake is a light and dreamy no-bake layered dessert combining the airy texture of angel food cake with creamy vanilla pudding, tart cherry pie filling, and smooth whipped topping, enhanced by a touch of sour cream. This easy-to-assemble cake is perfect for holidays, potlucks, or any occasion that calls for a refreshing, crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 prepared angel food cake, cubed

Pudding Mixture

  • 1 (3.4-ounce) package instant vanilla pudding
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup sour cream

Fruit & Topping

  • 1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (8-ounce) container whipped topping, thawed
  • Sliced almonds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare pudding mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the instant vanilla pudding with 2 cups of cold milk, stirring according to the package directions until the pudding is thickened. Then gently fold in 1 cup of sour cream until fully incorporated for a creamy consistency.
  2. Layer cake cubes: Spread half of the cubed angel food cake evenly in the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish to form the first layer.
  3. Add pudding layer: Spoon and spread half of the pudding and sour cream mixture over the cake cubes to create a smooth layer.
  4. Top with cherry pie filling: Spoon half of the cherry pie filling evenly over the pudding layer, distributing cherries and sauce uniformly.
  5. Repeat layering: Repeat the layering steps by adding the remaining cake cubes, pudding mixture, and cherry pie filling in the same order, finishing with the last layer of cherry pie filling.
  6. Add whipped topping: Spread the thawed whipped topping evenly over the top layer of cherry pie filling to create a smooth, creamy finish.
  7. Chill: Refrigerate the assembled cake for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly.
  8. Garnish and serve: Before serving, optionally sprinkle sliced almonds over the top for added texture and nutty flavor.

Notes

  • Substitute blueberry or strawberry pie filling if preferred for a different fruit flavor.
  • Chilling overnight enhances the flavor and texture of the dessert.
  • Store the cake refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 4 days to maintain freshness.
