Ingredients
Meat
- 4 boneless pork chops
Vegetables & Fruits
- 1 cup pineapple chunks
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- ½ onion, sliced
Seasonings & Sauces
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
Instructions
- Season Pork Chops: Season the pork chops evenly with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to enhance the flavor of the meat before cooking.
- Sear Pork Chops: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and sear them for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until they develop a golden-brown crust.
- Remove Chops: Take the pork chops out of the skillet and set them aside temporarily.
- Cook Vegetables and Pineapple: In the same skillet, add the sliced red bell pepper, onion, and pineapple chunks. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables soften slightly and the pineapple begins to caramelize.
- Prepare Sauce: In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, and minced garlic to create a tangy and sweet glaze.
- Simmer Pork Chops: Return the pork chops to the skillet with the vegetables and pour the sauce over everything. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let everything simmer for 8 to 10 minutes until the pork is fully cooked and absorbs the flavorful sauce.
- Serve: Serve the Hawaiian pork chops hot, ideally over steamed rice to soak up the delicious sauce.
Notes
- Fresh pineapple gives the best flavor and sweetness, but canned pineapple chunks can be used in a pinch.
- Chicken breasts can be substituted if you prefer poultry over pork.
- For garnish and extra freshness, sprinkle chopped green onions on top before serving.
