Ingredients
Protein & Oils
- 1 lb (450 g) ground chicken
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Vegetables
- 1 small bell pepper, diced
- 1 small carrot, thinly sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- ½ cup snap peas
- ½ small onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 green onions, sliced
Sauces & Seasonings
- ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- Heat Oils and Cook Ground Chicken: In a large skillet or wok, heat sesame oil and olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground chicken and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until fully cooked and no longer pink.
- Add Vegetables: Stir in the sliced onion, diced bell pepper, thinly sliced carrot, broccoli florets, and snap peas. Stir-fry the mixture for 5–6 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender but still vibrant and slightly crunchy.
- Add Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan. Stir and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Prepare Stir-Fry Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the low-sodium soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and optional red pepper flakes to create a flavorful sauce.
- Combine Sauce and Cook: Pour the sauce over the chicken and vegetables. Toss everything thoroughly to coat the ingredients evenly. Continue cooking for another 2–3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and the dish to heat through completely.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately over steamed rice or your choice of noodles for a complete meal.
Notes
- Use any combination of your favorite stir-fry vegetables such as snap peas, mushrooms, or zucchini for variation.
- Ground turkey can be substituted for a leaner protein alternative.
- Add sriracha or chili garlic sauce if you prefer a spicier dish.
- For a lower-carb option, serve over cauliflower rice instead of traditional rice or noodles.
