Description
A quick and easy stir-fry made with tender ground beef, crisp broccoli florets, and a savory garlic-ginger sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights and better than takeout!
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen, thawed)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (or sesame oil)
Flavorings and Sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar (or honey)
- 1/2 cup beef broth (or water)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry)
To Serve and Garnish
- Cooked white rice, for serving
- Sesame seeds & sliced green onions (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat the oil: Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the beef.
- Brown the beef: Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if needed to reduce greasiness.
- Add aromatics: Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking until fragrant, about 30 seconds, to build flavor.
- Cook broccoli: Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp.
- Combine sauce ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and beef broth. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli in the pan.
- Thicken sauce: Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens and coats everything nicely, about 2–3 minutes.
- Serve: Serve the beef and broccoli hot over cooked white rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
Notes
- You can substitute ground chicken or turkey for a leaner version.
- Use frozen broccoli for convenience; just thaw and pat dry before cooking.
- For a spicier dish, add red pepper flakes or sriracha to the sauce.
