Description
A bright and flavorful Mediterranean dish featuring tender chicken breasts or thighs marinated in a zesty lemon, garlic, and oregano mixture, then grilled or pan-cooked to juicy perfection and topped with creamy crumbled feta cheese for a deliciously tangy finish.
Ingredients
Chicken and Marinade
- 4 chicken breasts or thighs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Toppings and Garnish
- 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade: In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful marinade.
- Marinate the chicken: Place the chicken breasts or thighs in the marinade, ensuring each piece is fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
- Preheat cooking surface: Heat a grill or a skillet over medium heat until hot and ready for cooking.
- Cook the chicken: Remove the chicken from the marinade and cook on the heated grill or pan for about 8-10 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the chicken is golden brown.
- Add feta cheese: While the chicken is still hot, sprinkle crumbled feta cheese evenly over each piece to allow it to slightly soften and melt from the heat.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top and serve immediately, pairing with your choice of sides such as rice, potatoes, or a fresh salad.
Notes
- Marinate the chicken for longer, up to several hours or overnight, to deepen the lemon and herb flavors.
- Pair this dish with side dishes like rice, roasted potatoes, or a crisp Mediterranean salad for a complete meal.
- For added Mediterranean flair, consider including olives or cherry tomatoes as additional toppings or side ingredients.
