Description

Cheese-filled tortellini baked in a rich, creamy Gorgonzola sauce and topped with melted mozzarella. This indulgent casserole is packed with flavor and perfect for special dinners or cozy nights at home.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 20 oz cheese tortellini
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 oz Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the casserole later.
  2. Cook Tortellini: Boil the cheese tortellini according to the package directions until al dente, then drain well to remove excess water.
  3. Prepare Sauce: In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
  4. Add Cream and Cheese: Stir in the heavy cream and crumbled Gorgonzola cheese, cooking and stirring continuously until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  5. Combine Tortellini and Sauce: Mix the cooked tortellini thoroughly with the Gorgonzola cream sauce to coat the pasta evenly.
  6. Assemble Casserole: Transfer the tortellini and sauce mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  7. Add Cheese Topping: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the tortellini mixture.
  8. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cheese topping is golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve immediately for best flavor and creamy texture.

Notes

  • Add cooked chicken or spinach for extra substance and added nutrition.
  • Blue cheese can be used as a substitute for Gorgonzola if desired.
  • Best served immediately while hot and creamy for optimal taste and texture.
