Ingredients
Shrimp Boil Ingredients
- 700 g large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 500 g baby potatoes, halved
- 3 ears corn, cut into pieces
- 250 g smoked sausage, sliced
Garlic Butter Sauce
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp Old Bay or seafood seasoning
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried parsley
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Garnish
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Boil Potatoes: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the halved baby potatoes. Cook them for 10 to 12 minutes until they are nearly tender but still hold their shape.
- Add Corn and Sausage: Add the corn pieces and sliced smoked sausage to the pot with the potatoes and continue cooking for another 5 minutes to heat through and infuse flavors.
- Cook Shrimp: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the boiling pot and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and opaque, indicating they are perfectly cooked.
- Drain Ingredients: Drain the shrimp, potatoes, corn, and sausage well using a colander, removing excess water.
- Prepare Garlic Butter Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter with minced garlic, lemon juice, Old Bay or seafood seasoning, smoked paprika, dried parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly to blend all the flavors.
- Toss Boil with Sauce: Return all the drained shrimp, potatoes, corn, and sausage back into the large pot. Pour the prepared garlic butter sauce over everything and gently toss to coat all ingredients evenly.
- Serve: Transfer the shrimp boil mixture onto a large serving platter. Garnish with fresh parsley and lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the top. Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- Avoid overcooking the shrimp as they cook very quickly and can become rubbery.
- For a larger seafood boil, add crab legs or mussels along with the shrimp.
- Reduce or omit the sausage for a lighter, less fatty version.
- Serve with extra lemon wedges and additional garlic butter on the side for dipping.
