Description

This quick and flavorful garlic and herb sautéed chicken features tender chicken breasts cooked in a skillet with garlic, a blend of herbs, and butter. It is a simple and satisfying meal perfect for busy weeknights and pairs well with a variety of side dishes such as mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts

Seasonings

  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Cooking Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken: Evenly sprinkle salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, and parsley over both sides of the chicken breasts to ensure they are well-seasoned for maximum flavor.
  2. Heat the skillet: Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil, allowing it to heat until shimmering but not smoking.
  3. Cook the chicken: Add the seasoned chicken breasts to the hot skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on one side until golden brown and beginning to cook through. Flip and cook another 5 to 6 minutes on the other side until the chicken is nearly cooked completely.
  4. Add butter and garlic: Reduce heat slightly and add the butter and minced garlic to the skillet. Let the garlic sauté in the butter for about 1 minute while spooning the flavorful butter mixture over the chicken breasts to infuse them with rich garlic-herb flavor.
  5. Finish with lemon juice: Stir in the lemon juice into the skillet and cook for an additional minute to meld the citrusy note into the sauce and chicken.
  6. Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and serve the chicken immediately while hot, perfect to pair with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • Fresh herbs such as thyme, rosemary, and parsley can be used instead of dried for a brighter flavor.
  • Chicken thighs can be used as a substitute if a juicier cut is preferred.
  • This dish pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, white or brown rice, or steamed vegetables for a balanced meal.
