Description

This homemade Crunchwrap is a delicious, family-friendly meal featuring seasoned ground beef, crispy tostada shells, warm nacho cheese, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and shredded Mexican cheese blend, all wrapped in a grilled flour tortilla until perfectly golden and crispy. Enjoy a fun and flavorful Mexican-inspired dish that’s even better than takeout.

Ingredients

Beef Filling

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • ½ cup water

Tortilla Layers

  • 4 large burrito-size flour tortillas
  • 4 tostada shells
  • 4 small flour tortillas, cut into rounds (or extra tortilla pieces for sealing)

Fillings and Toppings

  • 1 cup nacho cheese sauce
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • ½ cup sour cream

Cooking

  • Cooking spray or 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up until fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Season the Beef: Stir in the taco seasoning and water, then simmer for 3–4 minutes until the seasoning is fully absorbed and the mixture thickens slightly.
  3. Assemble the Base: Lay each large burrito-size tortilla flat and spread about ¼ cup of nacho cheese sauce in the center.
  4. Add Beef Layer: Spoon a portion of the seasoned ground beef evenly over the nacho cheese.
  5. Layer the Tostada: Place one crispy tostada shell on top of the beef layer to add crunch and structure.
  6. Add Fresh Toppings: Spread sour cream over the tostada, then top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded Mexican cheese blend.
  7. Seal the Filling: Place a small tortilla round atop the fillings to help seal them inside when folding.
  8. Fold the Crunchwrap: Carefully fold the edges of the large tortilla toward the center, creating pleats to completely enclose the filling and small tortilla piece.
  9. Cook the Crunchwrap: Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with cooking spray or vegetable oil. Place the folded Crunchwrap seam-side down in the skillet.
  10. Grill Until Golden: Cook for 3–4 minutes on each side until the tortilla is golden brown, crispy, and heated through.
  11. Serve: Slice each Crunchwrap in half and serve immediately, optionally with salsa, guacamole, or extra sour cream on the side.

Notes

  • Avoid overfilling the tortillas to make folding easier and prevent tearing.
  • Add jalapeños or guacamole inside for extra flavor and texture.
  • Serve with salsa, queso dip, or additional sour cream for dipping.
  • Use a non-stick skillet or well-oiled pan to prevent sticking during cooking.
