Description

Tender shredded chicken slow-cooked in a spicy and tangy buffalo sauce. This easy crockpot recipe is high in protein and perfect for sandwiches, wraps, salads, tacos, or healthy meal prep.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 700 g boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Sauce

  • ¾ cup buffalo hot sauce
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Optional Add-ins and Garnish

  • 2 tbsp ranch or Greek yogurt, optional
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley or green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken in the crockpot: Arrange the boneless, skinless chicken breasts evenly at the bottom of your crockpot to ensure even cooking.
  2. Prepare the buffalo sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the buffalo hot sauce, melted butter, minced garlic, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until fully combined.
  3. Add sauce to the chicken: Pour the prepared buffalo sauce mixture evenly over the chicken breasts in the crockpot, making sure all pieces are coated.
  4. Cook the chicken: Cover the crockpot and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or on HIGH for 2–3 hours until the chicken is tender and fully cooked through.
  5. Shred the chicken: Carefully remove the cooked chicken breasts from the crockpot and shred them using two forks until finely pulled apart.
  6. Toss shredded chicken in sauce: Return the shredded chicken to the crockpot and mix thoroughly with the remaining buffalo sauce to fully coat the meat.
  7. Add optional creaminess: Stir in ranch dressing or Greek yogurt if using, to add a smooth texture and mellow the spiciness.
  8. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley or green onions on top before serving for a fresh burst of flavor and color.

Notes

  • Use Greek yogurt instead of ranch for a lighter, healthier option.
  • Serve with lettuce wraps, whole-grain tortillas, rice, or a fresh salad to make a complete meal.
  • Add celery and carrots as a classic side pairing to complement the buffalo flavor.
