Description

A smooth and creamy seafood bisque with rich flavors, perfect as an elegant starter or cozy meal. This French-inspired soup combines a delicate blend of mixed seafood and a velvety cream base enhanced with paprika and tomato paste for depth.

Ingredients

Seafood Bisque Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups seafood broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 200 g mixed seafood (shrimp, crab, or lobster)
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sauté Onion: Melt butter in a pot over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until it becomes soft and translucent, about 4-5 minutes.
  2. Add Garlic: Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute until fragrant, making sure not to burn it.
  3. Create Roux: Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly to remove the raw flour taste and form a roux that will thicken the soup.
  4. Add Broth: Gradually whisk in the seafood broth, stirring continuously until the mixture is smooth and there are no lumps.
  5. Simmer Bisque Base: Add the tomato paste, paprika, and heavy cream to the pot. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for about 10 minutes to let the flavors meld and the bisque thicken slightly.
  6. Cook Seafood: Add the mixed seafood to the bisque and cook just until the seafood is opaque and cooked through, approximately 3-5 minutes to avoid overcooking.
  7. Season and Garnish: Season the bisque with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, blend the bisque with an immersion blender before adding the seafood.
  • Do not overcook the seafood to keep it tender and prevent it from becoming rubbery.
