Description
Juicy ground beef simmered with mushrooms in a creamy, savory sauce, this skillet dish is perfect served over rice, pasta, or enjoyed on its own. Easy to make and full of comforting flavors.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 500g ground beef
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup cream or milk
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp flour (optional for thickening)
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Thyme, to taste
Instructions
- Heat Butter: Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat until melted and hot.
- Sauté Aromatics: Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until they become soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Cook Ground Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until it is browned and no longer pink, approximately 5-7 minutes.
- Add Mushrooms: Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook until they start to soften and release their juices, about 4-5 minutes.
- Optional Thickening: Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of flour over the mixture if you want a thicker sauce, stirring well to combine and cook out the raw flour taste for 1-2 minutes.
- Add Cream and Season: Pour in 1 cup of cream (or milk for a lighter version). Season with salt, black pepper, and thyme to your preference. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
- Simmer Sauce: Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes.
- Serve Hot: Serve the creamy mushroom beef hot over rice, mashed potatoes, or pasta. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or pasta for a complete meal.
- Use milk instead of cream if you prefer a lighter dish.
- Add fresh parsley on top for a burst of color and flavor.
- Adjust seasoning to taste, especially if substituting cream with milk as it will alter richness.
