Description

Fluffy pumpkin-spiced rolls filled with a sweet cinnamon mixture and topped with a luscious maple glaze, these cozy pumpkin cinnamon rolls bring the perfect warmth and comfort of fall to your breakfast or dessert table.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Filling

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup butter, softened

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast mixture: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, sugar, and pumpkin puree. Stir gently and let it rest for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy, indicating the yeast is activated.
  2. Make the dough: In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, egg, melted butter, and cinnamon to the yeast mixture. Knead the dough for about 8 minutes until it becomes smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky but not sticky.
  3. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  4. Prepare filling and shape rolls: Roll out the risen dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture on top. Roll the dough tightly from the long side and cut into 12 even rolls.
  5. Second rise and bake: Arrange the rolls on a greased baking pan, leaving a little space between each. Let them rise again for about 15-20 minutes while you preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Glaze and serve: While the rolls are still warm, mix the powdered sugar with maple syrup to create a smooth glaze and drizzle it generously over the rolls. Serve warm for the best cozy experience.

Notes

  • Sprinkle chopped pecans on the filling before rolling for added texture and crunch.
  • These pumpkin cinnamon rolls are perfect for a comforting brunch or festive holiday treat.
  • Use room temperature ingredients for better dough texture and rising.
  • Allow rolls to cool slightly before glazing if you prefer less melting glaze.
