Ingredients
Banana Bread Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- ⅓ cup melted butter
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- ½ cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan to prevent sticking.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, melted butter, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Add Leavening Agents and Spices: Stir in the baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the wet mixture.
- Incorporate Flour and Optional Add-ins: Gently fold in the all-purpose flour just until combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender. If desired, fold in chopped walnuts or chocolate chips for added texture and flavor.
- Pour Batter into Pan: Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly to ensure uniform baking.
- Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50–60 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean when the bread is done.
- Cool: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and moist texture.
- Avoid overmixing the batter to prevent a dense loaf.
- Store the banana bread at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
