This Chicken Broccoli Stir-Fry features tender chicken breast and crisp broccoli florets tossed in a savory garlic-ginger sauce. A quick and easy Asian-inspired dish that is packed with protein and colorful vegetables, ready in under 30 minutes, making it perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Chicken and Vegetables

  • 600 g boneless, skinless chicken breast, thinly sliced
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive or sesame oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Sauce: Whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, cornstarch, water, and optional red pepper flakes in a small bowl until the cornstarch is completely dissolved. Set aside.
  2. Cook Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the thinly sliced chicken and stir-fry for 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook Vegetables: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the skillet. Toss in the broccoli florets and sliced red bell pepper. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender.
  4. Add Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and grated fresh ginger to the skillet with the vegetables. Cook while stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the prepared sauce over the ingredients and toss everything together thoroughly.
  6. Thicken Sauce and Finish Cooking: Continue cooking and stirring for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the chicken and vegetables.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions. Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Cut chicken into evenly sized pieces to ensure even and quick cooking.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like carrots, snap peas, mushrooms, or zucchini for extra variety and nutrition.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari.
  • Avoid overcrowding the pan to achieve proper searing; cook chicken in batches if necessary.
