Description
A creamy, cheesy casserole loaded with ground beef and rice—simple, filling, and perfect for a family dinner.
Ingredients
Meat and Vegetables
- 500g ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
Grains and Broth
- 1 cup uncooked rice
- 2 cups beef broth
Dairy and Others
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 can cream soup (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) to prepare for baking the casserole.
- Cook Meat and Onion: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is fully browned and onions are translucent. Drain excess fat.
- Combine Ingredients: In a baking dish, mix together the cooked beef and onion, uncooked rice, beef broth, and salt and pepper. If using, add the cream soup for extra creaminess.
- Initial Bake: Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes to allow the rice to cook through and absorb the liquids.
- Add Cheese: Remove the foil and sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.
- Final Bake: Return the dish to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the rice is tender.
Notes
- You can skip the canned cream soup for a lighter, less creamy version.
- Add vegetables like peas or carrots to boost nutrition and flavor.
- This casserole is great for meal prep as it reheats well and can be frozen.
