Ingredients
Dough
- 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
Filling
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese sticks or shredded mozzarella cheese
Garlic Butter Topping
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Pinch of salt
Optional
- Parmesan cheese, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) to ensure it’s hot and ready for baking the breadsticks.
- Prepare Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a flat surface into a rectangle shape large enough to hold the cheese filling.
- Add Cheese Filling: Place mozzarella cheese sticks or shredded cheese evenly in the center of the rolled dough.
- Seal Dough: Fold the dough over the cheese, pressing firmly along the edges to completely seal the cheese inside and prevent leakage during baking.
- Cut Into Strips: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the sealed dough into strips of your desired width and place them spaced apart on a baking tray.
- Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with minced garlic, dried oregano, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to mix all flavors together.
- Brush Breadsticks: Generously brush the garlic butter mixture over the top of each breadstick for a flavorful crust.
- Bake: Bake the breadsticks in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until they turn golden brown and the cheese inside is melted and gooey.
- Optional Parmesan Topping: Remove the breadsticks from the oven and sprinkle parmesan cheese over the top while still warm for extra savory flavor.
- Serve Warm: Serve the breadsticks warm, ideally paired with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Serve with marinara sauce for a classic dipping option.
- Ensure you seal the edges of the dough completely to prevent cheese from leaking during baking.
- Use freshly minced garlic for the best flavor in the garlic butter.
- Can be made ahead and reheated in the oven for a quick snack.
- Optionally add herbs like basil or thyme to the garlic butter for extra aroma.
