Description
Blueberry Baked Donuts are soft, fluffy donuts filled with fresh blueberries and baked instead of fried. They offer a lighter, healthier alternative to traditional fried donuts, perfect for a delightful breakfast or a sweet snack any time of the day.
Ingredients
Donuts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup fresh blueberries
Optional Glaze
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan to prepare it for baking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon until evenly combined.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth and well mixed.
- Blend Wet and Dry: Pour the wet ingredient mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined to avoid overmixing.
- Fold in Blueberries: Carefully fold in the fresh blueberries into the batter, ensuring they are evenly distributed without breaking them.
- Fill Donut Pan: Spoon or pipe the batter evenly into the greased donut pan cavities, filling each about three-quarters full.
- Bake Donuts: Place the pan in the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the donuts are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool and Remove: Allow the donuts to cool slightly in the pan for a few minutes before carefully removing them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare Glaze (Optional): If desired, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to create a glaze. Drizzle over cooled donuts before serving.
Notes
- Toss the blueberries in flour before adding them to the batter to help prevent them from sinking.
- If fresh blueberries are not available, frozen blueberries can be used as a substitute.
- Store baked donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days to maintain freshness.
