Description

Tender strips of flank steak sautéed with colorful bell peppers and onions, tossed with egg noodles, and coated in a rich, smoky barbecue sauce for a comforting and flavorful American-style main course.

Ingredients

Steak and Vegetables

  • 1 lb (450 g) flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Noodles and Sauce

  • 8 oz (225 g) egg noodles
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

Garnish

  • Green onions, sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Prepare the egg noodles according to the package instructions. Drain them well and set aside to prevent overcooking.
  2. Heat the skillet: Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil, allowing it to warm up before adding ingredients.
  3. Season the steak: Season the thinly sliced flank steak evenly with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to enhance flavor.
  4. Cook the steak: Add the seasoned steak strips to the hot skillet and cook each side for 2 to 3 minutes until browned but still tender. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Sauté the vegetables: In the same skillet, add the sliced red bell pepper and onion. Sauté until they become tender and slightly caramelized, about 4 to 5 minutes.
  6. Combine steak and sauce: Return the cooked steak strips to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the barbecue sauce and soy sauce, stirring well to coat all components evenly.
  7. Add the noodles: Add the drained noodles to the skillet, tossing everything together carefully to ensure the noodles are fully coated with the barbecue sauce mixture and heated through.
  8. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat, sprinkle with sliced green onions for a fresh touch, and serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Choose your favorite barbecue sauce style to customize the flavor profile.
  • Avoid overcooking the flank steak to maintain its tenderness and juiciness.
  • Pair this dish with a fresh side salad for a well-rounded meal.
