Ingredients
Chicken and Wrap
- 500 g boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 6 small flour tortillas or large lettuce leaves
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Bang Bang Sauce
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 3 tbsp sweet chili sauce
- 1 tbsp sriracha
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 tsp lime juice
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Toss the bite-sized chicken pieces with cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated to ensure a crispy texture when cooked.
- Cook the Chicken: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook for 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and fully cooked through (internal temperature reaches 74°C).
- Make the Bang Bang Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and lime juice until smooth and well combined to create the creamy, spicy sauce base.
- Combine Chicken and Sauce: Toss the cooked chicken pieces with most of the bang bang sauce, reserving a little for drizzling on the wraps later.
- Prepare the Wrap Bases: If using tortillas, warm them slightly to make them pliable. If using lettuce leaves, wash and pat dry to use as a light wrap alternative.
- Assemble the Wraps: Layer shredded lettuce, sliced cucumber, julienned carrot, and the sauced chicken onto each tortilla or lettuce leaf.
- Add Finishing Touches: Drizzle the remaining bang bang sauce over the top, then garnish with sliced green onions and fresh cilantro for added flavor and freshness.
- Serve: Fold the wraps securely and serve immediately, enjoying the contrast of crispy chicken with fresh veggies and flavorful sauce.
Notes
- For an extra-crispy texture, cook the chicken using an air fryer instead of skillet frying.
- Adjust the amount of sriracha in the sauce to control the level of spiciness according to your preference.
- Lettuce wraps provide a lighter, gluten-free alternative to flour tortillas.
- Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 74°C (165°F) for safe consumption.
