Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1½ lbs (680 g) salmon fillet
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp cumin
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 8 small corn or flour tortillas
Crunchy Cabbage Slaw
- 2 cups shredded green cabbage
- 1 cup shredded purple cabbage
- 1 carrot, shredded
- 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Creamy Lime Sauce
- ¼ cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tsp hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for baking the salmon evenly and thoroughly.
- Season the salmon: Rub the salmon fillet with olive oil and evenly coat it with chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper for a flavorful crust.
- Bake the salmon: Place the salmon on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork, indicating it is fully cooked.
- Prepare the cabbage slaw: In a large bowl, combine the shredded green and purple cabbage, shredded carrot, chopped cilantro, lime juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss everything well to mix and coat the vegetables evenly.
- Make the creamy lime sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt or sour cream, mayonnaise, lime juice, and hot sauce (if using) until smooth and creamy.
- Warm the tortillas: Heat the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until they are soft and pliable, ready to wrap around the taco filling.
- Assemble the tacos: Flake the baked salmon into bite-sized pieces and distribute evenly among the warm tortillas. Top each with a generous amount of cabbage slaw and drizzle with the creamy lime sauce.
- Serve immediately: Enjoy these fresh and flavorful salmon tacos straight away while the textures and flavors are at their best.
Notes
- Use fresh salmon fillet or frozen salmon that has been fully thawed for best results.
- For extra flavor and texture, add sliced avocado or pickled onions to your tacos.
- These tacos are best served immediately after assembly to maintain the crispness of the slaw and warmth of the salmon and tortillas.
