Description

Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, these air fryer crab cakes are packed with flavor and made healthier with less oil. Perfect as an appetizer or light main dish.

Ingredients

Crab Cake Ingredients

  • 1 lb crab meat
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a bowl, gently combine crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix carefully to prevent breaking up the crab meat too much, ensuring the texture remains chunky.
  2. Form Patties: Shape the mixture into evenly sized patties, about 4 to 6 depending on desired size, to ensure even cooking.
  3. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 190°C (375°F) to prepare for cooking the crab cakes.
  4. Prepare for Cooking: Lightly spray both sides of the crab cakes with cooking oil to encourage a golden and crispy exterior.
  5. Cook Crab Cakes: Place the crab cakes into the air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding. Cook for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time to ensure even crispiness on both sides.
  6. Serve Warm: Once golden brown and crispy, remove the crab cakes from the air fryer and serve warm. They pair wonderfully with tartar sauce or lemon wedges for added flavor.

Notes

  • Chilling the patties for 15 minutes before cooking helps them hold their shape better during cooking.
  • Serve with tartar sauce or fresh lemon wedges for complimentary flavors.
  • Using fresh crab meat will provide the best taste and texture for these crab cakes.
