Description

This Valentine’s Day steak with creamy garlic sauce is rich, romantic, and restaurant-quality — perfect for a cozy date night at home. Juicy pan-seared steak is finished with a silky garlic cream sauce that comes together in under 30 minutes for an elegant and flavorful dinner.

Ingredients

Steak

  • 2 ribeye or filet mignon steaks (1 inches thick)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Creamy Garlic Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Bring Steaks to Room Temperature: Remove steaks from the refrigerator 20–30 minutes before cooking to ensure even cooking and better searing.
  2. Season Steaks: Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season generously on both sides with salt and black pepper for enhanced flavor.
  3. Preheat Skillet: Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Sear Steaks: Add the steaks to the pan and sear for 3–5 minutes per side, depending on thickness and your preference for doneness, forming a beautiful crust.
  5. Butter Baste: Add 1 tablespoon butter to the skillet and spoon the melted butter repeatedly over the steaks for about 30 seconds to add richness.
  6. Rest Steaks: Remove the steaks from the skillet and set them aside to rest, allowing juices to redistribute.
  7. Make Garlic Sauce: In the same skillet, melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant without browning.
  8. Deglaze Pan: Pour in beef broth, scraping up the flavorful browned bits from the bottom of the skillet to deepen the sauce’s flavor.
  9. Add Cream and Seasonings: Stir in heavy cream, Italian seasoning, and paprika. Let the sauce simmer gently for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
  10. Incorporate Cheese: Add grated Parmesan cheese and stir until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  11. Adjust Seasoning: Taste the sauce and season with salt and pepper as needed.
  12. Finish and Serve: Return the steaks to the skillet and spoon the creamy garlic sauce over the top. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve immediately for a luscious, comforting meal.

Notes

  • For extra depth of flavor, add a splash of white wine to the pan before adding the cream.
  • Filet mignon, ribeye, or New York strip steaks all work excellently with this recipe.
  • Serve alongside mashed potatoes, roasted asparagus, or garlic green beans for a complete dinner.
  • The sauce will thicken as it cools; if it becomes too thick, stir in a splash of additional cream to loosen it.
