Description

These Thai Basil Beef Rolls are filled with marinated flank steak, fresh herbs, and crunchy vegetables, all wrapped in soft rice paper. A refreshing, protein-packed dinner or appetizer ready in under 30 minutes!

Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced

2 tbsp fish sauce

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp lime juice

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp minced garlic

1 tsp chili flakes (optional)

1 tbsp vegetable oil

12 rice paper wrappers

1 cup Thai basil leaves

1 cup cilantro

1 carrot, julienned

1 cucumber, julienned

1 small red bell pepper, thinly sliced

Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate beef in fish sauce, soy, lime, sugar, garlic, and chili flakes. Let sit 10–15 mins.

  2. Cook beef in oil over medium-high heat for 3–4 mins until browned. Let cool.

  3. Soften rice paper in warm water, then lay on a surface.

  4. Assemble rolls with herbs, veggies, and beef.

  5. Roll tightly and repeat with remaining wrappers.

  6. Serve with dipping sauce and enjoy!

Notes

  • Meat Alternatives: You can substitute flank steak with sirloin, ribeye, or even ground beef if preferred. Chicken, shrimp, or tofu work well too for a different twist.
  • Rice Paper Tips: Soak only one wrapper at a time and work quickly. Don’t over-soak, or they may tear.
  • Herbs Matter: Thai basil has a slightly spicier, licorice-like flavor compared to sweet basil. If unavailable, regular basil or mint can be used.
  • Make-Ahead: Rolls are best enjoyed fresh, but you can prepare the fillings and beef ahead of time to save time during assembly.
  • Serving Suggestion: Pair with a dipping sauce made of lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, garlic, and chili for that classic Thai tang—or use a peanut hoisin sauce for a richer flavor.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container, separated by parchment paper to prevent sticking. Best enjoyed within 1 day.
