Notes
- Meat Alternatives: You can substitute flank steak with sirloin, ribeye, or even ground beef if preferred. Chicken, shrimp, or tofu work well too for a different twist.
- Rice Paper Tips: Soak only one wrapper at a time and work quickly. Don’t over-soak, or they may tear.
- Herbs Matter: Thai basil has a slightly spicier, licorice-like flavor compared to sweet basil. If unavailable, regular basil or mint can be used.
- Make-Ahead: Rolls are best enjoyed fresh, but you can prepare the fillings and beef ahead of time to save time during assembly.
- Serving Suggestion: Pair with a dipping sauce made of lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, garlic, and chili for that classic Thai tang—or use a peanut hoisin sauce for a richer flavor.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container, separated by parchment paper to prevent sticking. Best enjoyed within 1 day.
