Description

Flavorful beef wrapped in fresh herbs and rice paper, infused with Thai basil and savory seasonings—perfect as a light meal or appetizer that combines traditional Thai flavors with a fresh, healthy presentation.

Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 300g ground beef
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Wraps and Garnishes

  • Fresh Thai basil leaves
  • Rice paper wrappers
  • Lettuce leaves

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned, breaking it apart as it cooks to ensure even cooking.
  2. Add Seasonings: Stir in the minced garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar with the browned beef. Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the garlic to soften.
  3. Soften Rice Paper: Fill a shallow dish with warm water and briefly dip each rice paper wrapper into the water until soft and pliable, about 10 seconds.
  4. Assemble Rolls: Lay the softened rice paper on a flat surface. Place a lettuce leaf on it, then spoon a portion of the beef mixture and add a few Thai basil leaves on top.
  5. Roll Tightly: Carefully roll the rice paper tightly around the fillings, folding in the sides as you go to create a neat cylindrical roll, similar to a spring roll.
  6. Serve Fresh: Arrange the rolls on a plate and serve immediately with your choice of dipping sauce, such as sweet chili or peanut sauce.

Notes

  • Serve with sweet chili sauce or peanut sauce for complementary flavors.
  • Add shredded carrots or cucumber to the filling for extra crunch and freshness.
  • Ensure rice paper wrappers are not over-soaked to prevent tearing during rolling.
  • For a spicier kick, sprinkle chopped fresh chili or add chili flakes to the beef mixture.
