Ingredients
Dough:
- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup warm milk
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Filling:
- 1 cup strawberries, finely chopped (fresh or frozen)
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt to create the dry base for the dough.
- Add Wet Ingredients and Form Dough: Pour the warm milk and melted butter into the dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly until a dough begins to form.
- Knead Dough: Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5–8 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Prepare Filling: While the dough is rising, mix the finely chopped strawberries, sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch in a bowl until evenly combined.
- Roll Out Dough: After the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle shape.
- Spread Filling: Evenly spread the strawberry mixture across the surface of the rolled dough.
- Form Rolls: Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 9 equal rolls.
- Second Rise: Place the rolls into a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes until puffy.
- Bake Rolls: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the rolls for 20–25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Prepare Glaze: While the rolls bake, whisk together the powdered sugar, 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Glaze Rolls: Once the cinnamon rolls are out of the oven and still warm, drizzle the glaze evenly over the top. Serve warm for best taste.
Notes
- Use fresh or frozen strawberries for the filling; if using frozen, thaw and drain excess liquid.
- Best served warm for a soft, gooey texture and fresh flavor.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
