Description

Spiced Chai Latte is a warm, aromatic beverage combining black tea, milk, and a blend of traditional spices like cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves. This comforting drink is gently sweetened, creating the perfect cozy treat for mornings, chilly days, or relaxing evenings.

Ingredients

Liquid Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Tea

  • 1 black tea bag (or 1 teaspoon loose-leaf black tea)

Spices

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch of ground cardamom
  • Pinch of ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Boil Water: Bring 1 cup of water to a gentle boil in a small saucepan to prepare the base for the chai.
  2. Steep Tea and Spices: Add the black tea bag and all the spices (cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves) to the boiling water. Reduce the heat and let it simmer gently for 3 to 5 minutes to infuse the flavors deeply.
  3. Remove Tea Bag and Add Milk: Take out the tea bag to prevent over-brewing, then stir in 1 cup of milk. Use your preferred dairy or non-dairy milk.
  4. Heat Milk Mixture: Warm the mixture gently on low heat until it’s hot but be careful not to bring it to a boil to maintain smoothness and prevent scalding.
  5. Sweeten and Flavor: Stir in 1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup to your desired sweetness. Add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract if using, to add a hint of rich flavor.
  6. Serve: Pour the chai latte into a mug and enjoy it warm for a soothing experience.

Notes

  • For a stronger spice flavor, simmer the spices longer before adding the milk.
  • Froth the milk before adding for a café-style latte texture.
  • To make an iced chai latte, let the mixture cool and serve over ice.
