Description
Flaky puff pastry bites filled with creamy Brie and sweet-tart cranberry sauce — a perfect balance of savory and festive flavors, ideal for holiday gatherings or elegant appetizers.
Ingredients
Pastry and Cheese
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 4 oz Brie cheese, cut into small cubes
Filling
- ⅓ cup cranberry sauce
Egg Wash and Garnish
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Fresh rosemary for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 °F (200 °C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for flaky and golden puff pastry.
- Prepare Puff Pastry: Cut the thawed puff pastry sheet into 2-inch squares, then gently press each square into the cups of a mini muffin tin to create little pastry shells.
- Add Filling: Place a small cube of Brie cheese into each pastry cup, followed by about ½ teaspoon of cranberry sauce to add that perfect balance of creamy and tart flavor.
- Apply Egg Wash: Brush the edges of the puff pastry with the beaten egg. This will help the pastry to brown beautifully and give it a nice glossy finish.
- Bake: Bake the prepared pastry cups in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the Brie is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Once baked, optionally garnish each bite with a small sprig of fresh rosemary for an aromatic touch. Serve the appetizers warm for the best flavor experience.
Notes
- Substitute fig jam or raspberry preserves for cranberry sauce for a different but equally delicious flavor.
- These appetizers are best served fresh but can be gently reheated in the oven to restore crispness.
