Description

Flaky puff pastry bites filled with creamy Brie and sweet-tart cranberry sauce — a perfect balance of savory and festive flavors, ideal for holiday gatherings or elegant appetizers.

Ingredients

Pastry and Cheese

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz Brie cheese, cut into small cubes

Filling

  • ⅓ cup cranberry sauce

Egg Wash and Garnish

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Fresh rosemary for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 °F (200 °C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for flaky and golden puff pastry.
  2. Prepare Puff Pastry: Cut the thawed puff pastry sheet into 2-inch squares, then gently press each square into the cups of a mini muffin tin to create little pastry shells.
  3. Add Filling: Place a small cube of Brie cheese into each pastry cup, followed by about ½ teaspoon of cranberry sauce to add that perfect balance of creamy and tart flavor.
  4. Apply Egg Wash: Brush the edges of the puff pastry with the beaten egg. This will help the pastry to brown beautifully and give it a nice glossy finish.
  5. Bake: Bake the prepared pastry cups in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the Brie is melted and bubbly.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Once baked, optionally garnish each bite with a small sprig of fresh rosemary for an aromatic touch. Serve the appetizers warm for the best flavor experience.

Notes

  • Substitute fig jam or raspberry preserves for cranberry sauce for a different but equally delicious flavor.
  • These appetizers are best served fresh but can be gently reheated in the oven to restore crispness.
