This Southern-style shrimp dirty rice is a one-skillet wonder packed with bold spices, juicy shrimp, and hearty beef. Pork-free and full of Louisiana flavor—perfect for weeknights or meal prep.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
10–12 shrimp, tails off and deveined
4 cups cooked rice
2 cups chicken broth
1.5 cups chopped onions and bell peppers
3 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp seafood seasoning
1/4 cup flour
1 tbsp oregano
3 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp thyme
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions

Season shrimp with seafood seasoning. Sear in 2 tbsp oil until pink, then set aside.

In the same skillet, cook ground beef in 1 tbsp oil until browned.

Add onions, peppers, garlic. Cook until softened.

Stir in all seasonings. Sprinkle flour over mixture and stir.

Slowly add broth and simmer until thickened.

Add rice, stir to combine, and simmer for 5 minutes.

Return shrimp to skillet. Mix well and serve hot.
Notes
- Use day-old rice for best texture.
- Add more broth for a saucier finish.
