Description

These savory cheddar herb biscuits are soft, flaky, and packed with flavor. Infused with garlic, oregano, and thyme, and loaded with sharp cheddar cheese, these biscuits make the perfect side for soups, stews, or as a stand-alone snack.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, oregano, and thyme. Stir in the shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter until well combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Form Dough: Using a spoon or your hands, scoop out portions of dough and drop them onto the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the biscuits to cool slightly on a wire rack. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a diced jalapeño.
  • If you don’t have fresh parsley for garnish, you can substitute with other fresh herbs like chives or thyme.
  • For a gluten-free version, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
  • If you prefer buttermilk, use it instead of regular milk for added tenderness.
