Description
Buttery, nutty, and rich — these Maple Pecan Treats are bite-sized bars filled with toasted pecans and maple syrup. A perfect mix of crunchy and gooey, ideal for dessert or a sweet snack.
Ingredients
For the Crust:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
For the Filling:
- ¾ cup pure maple syrup
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups chopped pecans, toasted
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the bars.
- Prepare the Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and sugar. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press this mixture evenly into a lined 8×8 inch baking pan to form the crust. Bake the crust for 12 minutes until lightly golden.
- Make the Filling: While the crust is baking, whisk together the maple syrup, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until smooth and well combined.
- Add Pecans: Stir in the chopped pecans into the filling mixture until evenly distributed.
- Combine and Bake: Pour the filling evenly over the pre-baked crust. Return the pan to the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the filling is set and bubbly around the edges.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the pan from the oven and let the bars cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into 16 squares for serving.
Notes
- Add a dash of bourbon to the filling mixture for extra depth of flavor.
- Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
