Description
This rich, buttery toffee is layered with chocolate and crunchy nuts, finished with a sprinkle of sea salt. Easy, elegant, and perfect for gifts or parties.
Ingredients
1 cup chopped pecans or almonds
1 cup granulated sugar (200 g)
1 cup unsalted butter (226 g)
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup water (60 ml)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Chocolate chips (amount as desired)
Additional chopped pecans for garnish
Flaked sea salt (optional)
Instructions

Line a 9×9-inch pan with parchment and spread chopped nuts on the bottom.

In a pot, combine butter, sugar, water, and salt. Heat over medium until melted and bubbling.

Attach candy thermometer and cook until the toffee reaches 300°F (hard-crack stage).

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

Pour caramel over nuts and spread evenly. Let sit for 2 minutes.

Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and cover to let them melt (~4 minutes).

Uncover and swirl chocolate. Top with nuts and flaked sea salt.

Let cool completely (about 4 hours) or chill until set. Break into pieces to serve
