Description

This rich, buttery toffee is layered with chocolate and crunchy nuts, finished with a sprinkle of sea salt. Easy, elegant, and perfect for gifts or parties.

Ingredients

1 cup chopped pecans or almonds

1 cup granulated sugar (200 g)

1 cup unsalted butter (226 g)

½ teaspoon salt

¼ cup water (60 ml)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate chips (amount as desired)

Additional chopped pecans for garnish

Flaked sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×9-inch pan with parchment and spread chopped nuts on the bottom.

  2. In a pot, combine butter, sugar, water, and salt. Heat over medium until melted and bubbling.

  3. Attach candy thermometer and cook until the toffee reaches 300°F (hard-crack stage).

  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

  5. Pour caramel over nuts and spread evenly. Let sit for 2 minutes.

  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and cover to let them melt (~4 minutes).

  7. Uncover and swirl chocolate. Top with nuts and flaked sea salt.

  8. Let cool completely (about 4 hours) or chill until set. Break into pieces to serve

Notes

  • Use any nuts you prefer—pecans, almonds, or mix.
  • Work quickly when pouring caramel and adding chocolate—it hardens fast.
  • Store airtight at room temp or chill if your kitchen is warm.
