Description

This classic meatloaf recipe combines seasoned ground beef with herbs and breadcrumbs, baked to perfection and topped with a rich mushroom gravy. A hearty, comforting family dinner.

Ingredients

2 lbs fresh ground beef
• 1 cup breadcrumbs
• 1 onion, finely chopped
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 2 large eggs, beaten
• ¼ cup ketchup
• 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tsp dried thyme
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
• 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
• 4 tbsp unsalted butter
• 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
• 2 cups beef broth
• ½ cup heavy cream
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare baking dish.

  2. Combine meatloaf ingredients gently. Shape into a loaf and bake 50–60 minutes until internal temp reaches 160°F (71°C).

  3. For the gravy, sauté mushrooms in butter until golden. Stir in flour for 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in broth and cream until smooth and thickened. Season to taste.

  4. Slice rested meatloaf and serve with mushroom gravy poured over the top.

Notes

• Don’t overmix meat—gently combine for a tender texture.
• Allow meatloaf to rest before slicing so it retains juices.
• For a gluten-free option, substitute gluten-free breadcrumbs and cornstarch for flour.
