Description
Lobster Tail with Lemon Herb Butter is an elegant yet easy seafood dinner perfect for special occasions. Tender lobster meat is broiled until juicy and finished with a rich butter sauce infused with fresh herbs and bright lemon flavor, creating a deliciously luxurious meal.
Ingredients
Lobster
- 4 lobster tails (4–6 oz each)
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Lemon Herb Butter
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp fresh thyme or chives, chopped
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- ¼ tsp paprika (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Broiler: Preheat your oven broiler to high and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil to make cleanup easier.
- Prepare Lobster Tails: Using kitchen shears, carefully cut the top of each lobster shell lengthwise down the center, but do not cut through the bottom shell.
- Expose Lobster Meat: Gently pull the lobster meat upward from the shell and rest it on top of the shell for even cooking and presentation.
- Season: Lightly season the lobster meat with salt and black pepper to enhance natural flavors.
- Make Lemon Herb Butter: In a small bowl, combine melted unsalted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, fresh thyme or chives, lemon juice, lemon zest, and paprika if using. Mix well.
- Brush with Butter: Generously brush the prepared lemon herb butter all over the lobster meat to infuse flavor and moisture.
- Broil Lobster: Place the lobster tails on the prepared baking sheet and broil for 8–10 minutes, or until the lobster meat becomes opaque, firm, and reaches an internal temperature of 140°F.
- Finish with Butter: Remove from oven and immediately brush the lobster meat with additional lemon herb butter for extra richness.
- Serve: Serve the lobster tails hot with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing, perfect as a standalone dish or paired with steak for a surf and turf meal.
Notes
- Avoid overcooking the lobster to keep the meat tender and juicy; overcooked lobster becomes tough and rubbery.
- Cooking times can vary based on the size of the lobster tails, so monitor closely after 8 minutes.
- Lobster is done when the meat has turned white and firm to the touch, with an internal temperature of 140°F.
- This recipe pairs excellently with steak to create a classic surf and turf dinner.
