Ingredients
Tea Base
- 1 cup water
- 1 chamomile tea bag or 1 tablespoon loose-leaf chamomile
- 1/2 teaspoon dried culinary lavender
Milk Mixture
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy such as almond, oat, or coconut)
Sweetener & Flavoring
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Boil Water: Bring 1 cup of water to a gentle boil in a small saucepan to prepare for the tea infusion.
- Steep Tea and Lavender: Remove the saucepan from heat, add the chamomile tea bag and 1/2 teaspoon dried culinary lavender. Allow to steep for 5 to 7 minutes to extract the flavors.
- Strain Tea: Strain the brewed tea to remove tea bag and lavender, discarding the solids to achieve a clear infusion.
- Heat Milk: Warm 1/2 cup of your preferred milk separately until heated through and optionally froth it for texture.
- Sweeten Tea: Stir 1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract into the brewed tea to add sweetness and aroma.
- Combine and Serve: Pour the tea mixture into a mug, top with the warmed milk, and serve immediately for a comforting latte experience.
Notes
- Ensure you use culinary-grade lavender to avoid bitterness or toxicity.
- Begin with a small amount of lavender to prevent overpowering the delicate flavors.
- For a creamier texture, blend the warm milk briefly to create extra foam before adding it to the tea.
