Description

Irish Coffee is a warm and indulgent cocktail combining hot brewed coffee, smooth Irish whiskey, and brown sugar, topped with lightly whipped cream. This classic beverage offers a perfect blend of rich coffee flavor and creamy sweetness, making it an ideal cozy after-dinner drink or a festive holiday treat.

Ingredients

For the Coffee Base

  • 6 oz hot brewed coffee
  • 12 tsp brown sugar or sweetener

For the Alcohol

  • 1½ oz Irish whiskey

For the Topping

  • 2 tbsp lightly whipped heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Sweeten the Coffee: Stir the hot brewed coffee and brown sugar together until the sugar is fully dissolved, ensuring a smooth, sweet base for the cocktail.
  2. Add the Whiskey: Pour in the Irish whiskey and stir gently to combine the flavors without rushing the mixture.
  3. Top with Cream: Lightly whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then carefully pour it over the back of a spoon to gently float it on top of the coffee mixture.
  4. Serve: Present the Irish Coffee immediately, serving in a warmed glass mug for the best flavor and experience. Do not stir once the cream is added to maintain the layered effect.

Notes

  • Cream should be softly whipped — not stiff, to maintain a light, velvety topping.
  • For extra creaminess and flavor, add a splash of Baileys Irish Cream.
  • Serve the drink in a warmed glass mug to keep it hot longer and enhance the drinking experience.
