Description

A juicy and flavorful honey glazed meatloaf topped with a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce, perfect for a comforting family dinner that combines classic meatloaf with a delicious honey BBQ twist.

Ingredients

Meatloaf

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Honey BBQ Glaze

  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp ketchup

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) to prepare for baking the meatloaf.
  2. Prepare Meat Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, and season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Shape Meatloaf: Form the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a baking dish, ensuring it’s compact for even cooking.
  4. Make Glaze: In a small bowl, mix together BBQ sauce, honey, and ketchup to create the sweet and tangy glaze that will complement the meatloaf.
  5. First Glazing: Spread half of the honey BBQ glaze over the surface of the meatloaf to begin building flavor and moisture.
  6. Bake Meatloaf: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 40 minutes, allowing the meatloaf to cook through and the glaze to set.
  7. Second Glazing and Finish Baking: Remove the meatloaf from the oven, spread the remaining glaze on top, then return it to bake for an additional 10–15 minutes to caramelize the glaze and finish cooking.
  8. Rest and Serve: Once done, let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing. This helps retain juices and makes slicing easier. Serve hot with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • For extra flavor and moisture, try a blend of beef and pork instead of just beef.
  • This meatloaf pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Ensure not to overmix the meat mixture to keep the meatloaf tender.
  • You can adjust the amount of honey in the glaze to suit your preferred level of sweetness.
