Description
A juicy and flavorful honey glazed meatloaf topped with a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce, perfect for a comforting family dinner that combines classic meatloaf with a delicious honey BBQ twist.
Ingredients
Meatloaf
- 500g ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Honey BBQ Glaze
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp ketchup
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) to prepare for baking the meatloaf.
- Prepare Meat Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, and season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Shape Meatloaf: Form the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a baking dish, ensuring it’s compact for even cooking.
- Make Glaze: In a small bowl, mix together BBQ sauce, honey, and ketchup to create the sweet and tangy glaze that will complement the meatloaf.
- First Glazing: Spread half of the honey BBQ glaze over the surface of the meatloaf to begin building flavor and moisture.
- Bake Meatloaf: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 40 minutes, allowing the meatloaf to cook through and the glaze to set.
- Second Glazing and Finish Baking: Remove the meatloaf from the oven, spread the remaining glaze on top, then return it to bake for an additional 10–15 minutes to caramelize the glaze and finish cooking.
- Rest and Serve: Once done, let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing. This helps retain juices and makes slicing easier. Serve hot with your favorite sides.
Notes
- For extra flavor and moisture, try a blend of beef and pork instead of just beef.
- This meatloaf pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
- Ensure not to overmix the meat mixture to keep the meatloaf tender.
- You can adjust the amount of honey in the glaze to suit your preferred level of sweetness.
