Description
A warm and filling beef soup loaded with tender chunks of beef, hearty vegetables, and rich beef broth. This comforting American classic is easy to make on the stovetop and perfect for a satisfying meal any day.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 400g beef (cubed)
- 2 carrots (sliced)
- 2 potatoes (diced)
- 1 celery stalk (chopped)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
Liquids and Seasoning
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Brown the Beef: Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the cubed beef and brown it on all sides to develop rich flavor.
- Sauté Aromatics: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot with the beef. Cook until the onion is translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add Vegetables: Stir in the sliced carrots, diced potatoes, and chopped celery, mixing well with the beef and aromatics.
- Combine Broth and Seasonings: Pour in the beef broth, then add the thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Simmer the Soup: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let simmer gently for 40–50 minutes, allowing beef to become tender and vegetables to soften.
- Check and Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Once the beef is tender and vegetables cooked through, remove from heat and serve hot.
Notes
- Add barley or noodles to the soup for a heartier texture and flavor.
- Adjust seasoning to taste before serving to ensure the perfect balance.
